How to use soursop powder: 6 easy ways
Soursop powder tastes sweet and tangy. Stir it into juice, uji, yoghurt and desserts.
Soursop is a large, green, spiky fruit with soft white flesh. In powder form it keeps that sweet and tangy, creamy taste, a little like a mix of pineapple and banana. The powder is pale cream and dissolves easily in cold or warm liquids.
How much to use
Use 1 teaspoon for a glass of water, juice or milk, and 1 to 2 teaspoons for a bowl of porridge, yoghurt or a smoothie. Whisk it in well. Start small to find the taste you like.
Ways to use it
- Soursop drink. Whisk 1 teaspoon into a glass of cold water or milk, add a little sugar, and serve over ice.
- Smoothies. Blend with banana, pineapple and yoghurt for a creamy, tropical smoothie.
- Uji and porridge. Stir a teaspoon into the bowl after the porridge is cooked.
- Yoghurt and fruit bowls. Mix into plain yoghurt, then add sliced mango or passion fruit.
- Ice cream and lollies. Whisk into milk or juice with sugar, then freeze for a creamy dessert.
- Cakes and custard. Add 1 tablespoon to cake batter or a pot of warm custard for a fruity taste.
Keeping it fresh
Keep it in a tightly closed container in a cool, dry cupboard, away from sunlight. Fruit powders pick up damp easily and clump. Use a dry spoon, and use within about 6 to 12 months.
Which pack to choose
It comes in a 100g pack. A teaspoon at a time, that lasts several weeks for one person.
